Recommended Tools + Services
These are the brands I work with and use in my services and for my own freelance business. They are what I recommend when asked for advice and what I use to set up my clients with all the tools they need to run their business online.
Full disclosure: These links are affiliate links, which means I will earn a small percentage of the brand’s sale if you choose to use the links below. It helps me produce more content and I do appreciate it a lot!
Squarespace is simply the best. The customer service is amazing, the platform is brilliant and the possibilities are endless. Here I’m simply sharing the coupon code that they have up on their website and it offers 10% off the first payment of a subscription.
If you HIRE ME to design your website, I can give you 20% off a year’s hosting service.
If you’re looking for amazing domain service with affordable domains, this is the place to go. This is where I buy my clients’ domains and I’ve never had any issues in the years I’ve used them. The customer service is, in my opinion, the best in their industry. Check them out!
I use Google for a lot of my business, Gmail, Drive, Docs and Forms are some that help me in my freelance business every day. I love how I can connect my Gmail to everything else like my email marketing platform and I’m a big fan of being able to access all my photos and files on my phone or my laptop.
Square is amazing. Besides that, it’s a mobile payment company and it’s super helpful. Invoice your clients, connect it to your scheduling platform for automated bookings, get the reader so you can take debit and credit card payments on the go and more! Once you sign up, you’ll also get your own affiliate link which rewards you with FREE processing fees! Check it out!
Adobe Creative Cloud
Lightroom, Photoshop and Spark are the apps from Adobe that I use the most! The Photography Plan is super affordable AND they offer student pricing. You get Spark included for free, which I use to make all my Pinterest Pins and other quick graphics like Instagram Stories. If you’re a videographer, get all the apps for a super affordable price, considering it’s the best.
As a creative, a freelancer and a photographer, it’s important to stay up to date on new technology, new strategies, new techniques and so many more things. The best place to get an education for an affordable price has to be Creative Live, not only because you can access a full library of free content and sign up for free live classes but also because the classes are taught by reputable people from each niche. It’s not just for artists either, you’ll find classes on marketing, mindset and business as well.
Pixieset offers stunning galleries for your clients and your art for FREE, just upgrade your account if and when you need more storage or if you want to waive the processing fees, brand your homepage or use a custom subdomain. I personally use it to host and deliver my fundraising images with the free account but I started using it as a portfolio. You can create and deliver personal mobile galleries or sell prints as well. In my opinion, it’s the easiest platform to learn and manage.
Tracking my work time is super important as a freelancer, especially when I’m working on multiple projects at the same time and I love using actiTIME to do that. It’s super easy to use and affordable too. Stay organized and structured, check it out now!
If you’re with Squarespace, you get ONE YEAR FREE with Acuity Scheduling! I’ve since renewed mine because I just absolutely love them! I set up my clients with automated bookings using Acuity and Square right on their Squarespace website. It makes life so much easier and I love how you can incorporate a wide variety of third-party apps, even some analytics!
Not only am I a contributor with my photography and my design, I also purchase some assets here when I need a little help or inspiration. You can get templates for just about anything and they start at just $2! Check it out!
