Get Inspired & Learn - Amazing Photography Facebook Groups To Help You

Nature Photography & Lifestyle Blog - Pixels by Tina, Alberta, Canada

Joining different photography related facebook groups has inspired me to go above and beyond my comfort zone. Seeing other talented artists' work, learning how other photographers and creatives have managed to take their business to awesome levels is all so inspiring to me. Especially when I'm in that "bored of this phase" which I really think we all go through at some point, no matter what your passion is. These groups help me with new ideas, I even learn a thing or two almost everyday. I've been a photographer for almost 20 years now and I never stop learning.

I started with wedding photography as an assistant to a local photographer in Ottawa, ON. and went on to portraits, only because that's where the money really is because it is the biggest market for photography. But I wasn't happy, it was just paying the bills, I wasn't passionate about it. One day I woke up and said "enough". I've always wanted to be a nature photographer and that's what I'm going to do no matter what it takes. I'll be honest, it's really not easy, but it's what I love to do.

So join these groups, learn some awesome stuff and go for your dreams! Just click the titles to be taken to their pages.

1. LOOKSLIKEFILM LEARN

Group Description:
This group should be used to learn and grow as artists. We welcome amateurs that want to start and simply need some help, as well as everyone else that wants to help and share their knowledge.

The rules are pretty simple.

Feel free to ask anything you want about photography in general, technical stuff, business stuff etc. If you don't want to help, talk people down, troll etc. you are probably wrong here and will be removed immediately.

Before you post a question, try to use the search function and see if the question has been asked before =)

**Please no Instagram or Facebook Page like threads. This includes Instagram Pod requests.** We want everyone to support each other, but a few every day takes away from the discussions. Thank you.

We also do not allow talking badly about clients. If you feel like you need to rant about something they did that you did not like, please post it somewhere else and not here. All client-related posts will be deleted.

2. TheLawTog® - the legal resource for photographers

5. Photographers - Build Your Business

Group Description:
"Photographers - Build your Business" is for photographers who want to build their photographic business. It is unapologetically more about the business of photography than the photographs themselves. Marketing, selling, product selection, image selection, suppliers, etc..

As a result, it is NOT a group for people learning to use a camera. You are expected to be producing work that is of a professional standard already - how else could you be in or starting a business? This means that you will consistently produce well-exposed and well-focused shots, know which lenses to use for which shots, etc...

Non-compliant members will be ejected, not argued with.

This is a place to share your ideas, issues, and images with fellow photographers of differing experience levels and geographic locations, to give and get honest feedback, to give and get advice and share knowledge on everything related to running a successful photography business.

If you have a thin skin, then this is not the group for you.

There is no such concept as “just sharing” or “not for HC/CC”. Random photo sharing can be done on your personal FB page or at Flickr. Do not post images for no good reason. If you share an image, it must be accompanied by a reason and business-related question or comment that corresponds with it. Simply posting for CC is not allowed. There are 3655889778 other groups on facebook for that. In fact, I also have a group that would be great for that. It is https://www.facebook.com/groups/BrandNewPhotographers/

Also, if you are posting images - post good quality images. We're not interested in screenshots from phones or tablets or whatever just because you're lying on the couch and can't be bothered going to the PC. Do it properly or not at all.

Watch your language and behavior - personal attacks, trolling, and excessive swearing (scale or amount) is not acceptable, and posts will be removed and members may be banned (either short-term or permanently).

Do not report a nipple to the Facebook police. If we find out you will be removed. If you don't like art nudes then just leave. If you think we are mean, just leave. #YAGE posts will be removed, after being laughed at. Do not pollute threads with "following" - it's not our fault you can't-do it properly.

Do not delete threads or you will be removed. An administrator will do that if necessary. Facebook now has a “report to admin” function on threads, so use it if you wish to report an issue.

If you block an Admin, you will be removed.

Your professionalism is expected and appreciated. We want to grow but we want to do it healthily ... invite fellow professionals who will be an asset to the group and its goals. (We are not after numbers for the sake of it - just members who will participate and contribute.)

Finally, have fun, and remember that any administrator’s say is final. (But the admins are all really really nice people. And reasonable. Truly.)

6. Photography Business Group

Group Description:
This is is a support group for those who are either already in a photography business or just starting a photography business.

We are here to help each other so I am asking that if you are just wanted to join to check us out or just to grab files we have posted that this is not the group for you. We do have a lot of people who are making a living doing what they love and willing to share how they did it. So be respectful to all members, NO NEGATIVE attitudes are allowed in this group.

Sometimes if something happens that you do need to blow off some steam about such as a client session you can post as long as it is not about any members in this group. We all have some clients that drive us crazy and sometimes it helps to get other opinions on it. But any negative toward this group will get you banned. We had one person who only posted negative things he was banned as soon as it was read.

Please keep your post to BUSINESS RELATED materials. By BUSINESS RELATED we mean, marketing do and don'ts or wanting to try, how to handle a difficult session or legalities in business.

We ask that you join the Photography Spot page for all Photography related questions such as Lighting, camera settings, finishes:
