How To Upload To INSTAGRAM From Lightroom on a PC - FAST & EASY
Ever been in that situation where your kid gets a hold of your phone and dunk it in your coffee and then it refuses to turn on and you can't buy a new phone but you need to keep your presence on Instagram? (true story) I had to go about a month without a phone, which was brutal!
Or maybe you would simply rather be able to upload right from Lightroom saving you time? Whatever the reason, I've found a way, I've had a few requests to explain how to do it too so here you go, you awesome you!
First, in all transparency, I'm not affiliated with this service at all, I'm just sharing what I learned.
-Go to lrinstagram.com and at the top you'll find the download tab in the navigation, click on it.
This window will show up on your screen.
After downloading the file, find it in your downloads folder. Right click on the extracted folder (lrinstagram.lrplugin) and select "EXTRACT ALL".
Go back to Lightroom, find the "FILE" menu and select "PLUGIN MANAGER", this window will pop up. Don't worry about anything else on the screen, just click "ADD".
Select the folder you need, it's most likely in your downloads folder, or you can search for it by name if you need to, LRInstagram.lrplugin. Select it, and click "SELECT FOLDER".
After clicking "SELECT FOLDER" you'll see this window, showing you it's been installed and unless you want to register it, you can click "DONE".
But we're not quite done. Next you want to make sure you edit your settings first but before that I take my image from the library tab under gridview, I drag the image to the Instagram plugin tab shown in the image below. The right click on "LR/Instagram"...
Select "EDIT SETTINGS" and it will give you this window. I only upload one photo at a time, this way I can give each image their own story and hashtags. Unless you want a fat border around your image on Instagram, make sure "FORCE PADDING TO SQUARE" is NOT checked! Your "INSTAGRAM CAPTION' will be custom since you'll write your own post. I sharpen for screen, you don't have to, you can also sharpen your image for print. Then decide if you want your watermark/logo to show up on your image and you're good to go!
After you click "SAVE", this is what it should look like, showing you which photos are due for publishing. Hit "PUBLISH" and voila! Note that if you are using the unregistered version of this plugin, it delays the publishing by a few seconds.
