Creating Graphics? Why You Should Use Adobe Spark
If you decide after reading this blog, that you would like to try out Spark or any of the Adobe Creative Cloud programs, I would really appreciate it if you used my affiliate links, if you make a purchase, I will receive a small compensation which really helps keep my blog going. Thank you for your support!
In this blog, I'll show you a little bit about what Spark can do and what it all looks like, personally love the page feature, you can create customized web pages and embed them into your current website, I also love how clear and sharp the graphics are when downloaded.
First, go to Spark.com and create an account if you're not already on a plan with the Creative Cloud suite. After you've done all that, this is what the homepage will look like, from here you can choose to create a post for just about anything from YouTube thumbnails to Snapchats and Facebook ads, you can choose to create a page and finally you can choose to create a video. In any case, Spark offers templates for everything. Creating simple marketing videos has never been so easy!
This is where you can brand your content, upload your logo, pick your fonts and your brand colours. I was surprised to see the fonts I bought on Creative Market already installed in here, and Spark has a feature where it will automatically pair your main font with a secondary one, which is super cool.
Okay, so you'll either want to pick between creating a social media post, a page or a video. There's a template for everything if you're unsure about graphic design and what works. This program is really easy to use, if you can work with Canva, you can work with this and you should because it's way better ;)
If you decide to design a social media post, this is the next page you will see, from here you can decide to go a few ways. Either start with templates that are designed with your branding in mind or start from scratch. In the image below, it's showing me posts I often create and already branded for me, it saves so much time. I'm in love.
The image below shows you the web page that will appear when you click on start from scratch. You'll find everything you will ever need in the tabs (POPULAR, SOCIAL POST, SOCIAL PROFILE, STANDARD or CUSTOM), graphics like YouTube thumbnails and channel art, Instagram Stories, Blog Headers, Pinterest Pins, Twitter Headers, Etsy Covers and way more. In everything, I mean everything, so if you're unsure of what dimensions each option requires, then this is great. Spark is graphic design for beginners, I really think it's even easier than Canva, no doubt.
Alright, now that you know what you're designing it's time to pick your image, but know that if you choose to skip, which you can, you can add images later after you've picked a layout. If you choose to skip, Spark offers free stock photos, mostly from Pixabay and Unsplash, or you can upload from Adobe Stock, Lightroom and Google Photos to name a few. So don't worry if you don't have an image, there's plenty to choose from.
Now you're all ready to make some magic happen, from this page, you can customize the layout, the text and the colours. When you click the + Add icon, it lets you choose between adding another image, more text, an icon or your logo.
Double click on the text to open the editor and type your text up. Click on the image to change it or to reposition it, increase the scale of it as well. You can edit the colour of it, the font, you can add a shape to it, give it special effects like embossing and you can change the opacity as well. When you're all done designing, you can choose to share it directly with a social media profile or you can download it to your device. Easy as pie.
Here's a quick preview of what the side tabs look like once expanded, you can customize everything, not just the fonts but the panels will all look the same, easy to use. So everything an element is hightlighted, the editing options will appear in a tab just like these.
When you're designing a page, you are designing each block at a time like in the image below and it works very similarly to the post editor. Pick out images, change the text, and add things as you go down your page. Spark also has templates for designing pages. Seriously guys, this is so awesome.
And when you're designing a video, Spark will ask you if you would like to use one of their templates or create your own from scratch. They provide a small and versatile but free music library or you can choose to upload your own. Keep in mind, it's a basic video editor and best for uses like marketing videos and not full out YouTube vlogs. But it's super helpful and so so easy to use for those those that really don't know how to create videos but want to.
I love Spark because...
It's super easy to use and the learning curve is very small.
The quality of the graphics after being downloaded are of high quality and resolution.
It's never been so easy to brand one's content and be consistent about it.
I can upload my images directly from Lightroom.
It features a video editor.
I can create custom web pages and embed them in my client's websites.
It detected the fonts I installed on my laptop and I was able to use them without uploading them.
So I strongly recommend you try this out because it will make your life easier and save you a ton of time while making all your graphics amazing, especially if you're a social media manager or a virtual assistant. If you'd like to check it out, I would really appreciate it if you used this link and supported me and my blog!
Seriously, you won't regret it, I promise!
